A healthcare analytics professional uses computers to look at information from hospital inventories, patient records, insurance and billing records, and more. They look for patterns and trends in how different departments perform. They also identify problem areas, like accuracy and duplication of cost figures. From the data that they capture and report on, they create databases in order to create performance reports, but also to make projections. The goal is to always improve the administrations effectiveness and efficiency, thereby ensuring healthcare providers are able to deliver the best possible services to both patients and insurance. Healthcare analytics professionals also often engage in staff training and development, usually as a result of the data that they gather.
